Digital line in the production of Blimps and other blown custom shapes

From fully analog to fully digital production process

There are a number of technologies that come together when producing Blimps and other custom inflatables. To be even simpler, there is an analog production of Blimps - but certainly also a digital production line. We started with analog more than 25 years ago and, as demanding as it was, we managed to design many blimps and inflatables whose design roots remain today in digitally created blimps. Testing, a paper model, checking the basic idea and turning it into life cannot be avoided, and this will always remain in the sphere of fat and fast, even crude, materialization. However, digital development has also facilitated the materialization of an idea that does not have to be as raw as it was in analog times. This digitalization, used correctly, speeds up and simplifies the journey from idea to prototype and later to production. We present a 1.5 m sphere with a moon texture, which is the first fully digital product from our company Aero Drum doo. From 3D design, through preparation for printing, developing 3d into 2d, digital printing as well as cutting parts to ultrasonic joining - all digital. Not as bad as the transition from analog to digital in 25 years. An era is being erased - but I have always loved progress and new technologies.

To be fair, there will always be a bit of analog in digital - after all, we are biological beings.
